Mirrors is the answer to Autumn's quest to understand how empathy is developed. She wondered, how do we learn to love people who we have never met? How can we feel things that our fingers have never grasped? Thus, Mirrors takes the reader on a journey from Baltimore to foreign countries and back, in order to show that many of the issues of institutionalized oppression faced outside our nation's borders are indeed happening right up the street.
